Choose Ring 5 if bulk is your main complaint

Ring 5 is 6.09 mm wide and 2.28 mm thick; Ring 4 is 7.9 mm wide and about 2.88 mm thick. That is a reason to try the new sizing kit, not proof that it will feel better on your finger. Its claimed battery range is 6–9 days versus 5–8 for Ring 4. These are manufacturer estimates, not our test results.

Choose Ring 4 if fit or price matters more

Ring 4 covers sizes 4–15; Ring 5 covers 6–13. If you need one of the extra sizes, the newer ring may not be an option. Both use the Oura app and require membership for full insights. A lower verified Ring 4 checkout price can therefore make more sense than paying for a smaller design.

Should a Ring 4 owner upgrade?

Our view: keep a Ring 4 that fits comfortably and holds enough charge for your routine. Consider Ring 5 if bulk or charging gaps are a recurring problem. Oura says Ring 5 includes the same membership features as Ring 4, so do not buy it just to unlock the existing app. Your membership and history carry over with your Oura account.

Compare checkout costs, not just generations

The table uses USD hardware reference prices checked on 6 October 2026, not live local offers. Both have the same required membership: Oura lists US$5.99/month in the US and €5.99/month in the EU, with annual plans available. Taxes and regional terms can differ. For an upgrade, compare the new ring and accessories with keeping your current ring; the table models buying either ring from scratch.

Can I order Ring 5 in my Ring 4 size?

Do not assume the same number fits identically. Oura says sizing differs between generations. Use the Ring 5-specific kit before ordering; the supported range is also narrower.

Do I need another membership when upgrading?

No. Oura ties membership to your account, not the physical ring. Use the same account when pairing the replacement. Existing members do not receive another complimentary month merely by buying another ring.

Which ring stores more data away from my phone?

Oura lists up to three days of storage for Ring 5 and up to seven for Ring 4. Ring 4 has the longer stated offline window. Sync regularly rather than assuming battery life and storage capacity are the same thing.
